Jun 21, 2010 Getting More Done through Landscape-Level Approaches: an Overview of the MN Forest Resources Council Landscape Program 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Optivation - Natural Resources Consortium
Join the Natural Resources Continuing Education Consortium at 3:30pm on June 21 for a presentation on regional landscape planning with Lindberg Ekola, the Landscape Program Manager for the Minnesota Forest Resources Council (MFRC). Landscape level management is a voluntary, consensus-based approach to the planning of forest and natural resources and their management. It brings people together who have an interest in the long-term health and vitality of a particular region or landscape. It is a process that helps landowners and other stakeholders better understand how an individual property or site, be it a forest, a wetland, or a prairie, fits into the “larger landscape picture.” Mr. Ekola will present on the MFRC Landscape Program and update attendees on the recent accomplishments of this program, which has been recognized as a national model. This presentation will have special importance for organizations facing greater demands with fewer resources by providing insights on ways to increase results in sustainable forestry through collaborative landscape-level approaches. The MFRC was created as a result of the Sustainable Forest Resources Act passed by the MN legislature in 1995. This presentation is free and open to the public.
