We'll look quickly at the economic and social progress China has made since the late 70s and contrast that with increasing environmental problems and growing political pressures. Even in the absence of cross cultural misunderstandings, there would be areas of conflict between the West, especially the US and China. Chances for resolving those conflicts are more likely be reached with today more confident, prosperous China than they would be were China a still an impoverished nation with nukes, ruled by a megalomaniac.
