A Regional Employer Support Network presentation entitled "Performance Evaluation Writing" is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 10 at the Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation, located at 3801 Bemidji Avenue North.
The session is free and open to all who are interested in learning about the topic. For additional information, check online at www.optivation.org or by calling the CRI at (218) 755-4900 or (888) 738-3224.
Presenting will be Rick Demers, training specialist with Leech Lake Gaming, Cass Lake.
He will give an overview of evaluation writing as a process rather than an isolated event including the evaluation process, types of information gathered and the writing of the evaluation itself. Handout materials will be available to those attending.
"If you can't measure something, you can't manage it. If you can't measure something, you can't coach it. If you can't measure something, you can't recognize it," said Demers.
Demers possesses experience in management, small business and social services. As a training specialist with Leech Lake Gaming, his training sessions include evaluation writing, incident report writing, business grammar and writing, and assorted other management topics as well as stress management and conflict resolution.
The information covered in this session should be useful to anyone who currently does, or will be doing employee evaluations.
The Regional Employer Support Network was formed after employers in the region expressed the need for a network of professionals involved in human resources development and management. It usually meets the first Thursday of each month with regular sessions lasting two hours and quarterly sessions lasting longer. The sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about the featured topic.
CRI staff members help facilitate RESN activities, and organizations collaborating to support the group include North Country Health Services, North Country Business Products, Potlatch, Bi-CAP, Johanneson, Inc., Pinnacle Publishing and Anderson Fabrics.
The CRI is an off-campus facility operated by Bemidji State University designed to increase collaboration between the University, business and industry and other sectors of the region. The CRI was formed to focus efforts on training, education and entrepreneurial needs of the region.
