CRI Training Courses Receive Rave Reviews

QuickBooks Training Offered at CRI
Michelle Landsverk, Certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor, will teach an Introduction to QuickBooks on April 20 and 27 at the Center for Research and Innovation. The 12-hour course will teach how to quickly and easily manage basic tasks like printing checks, paying bills, generating reports, invoicing customers and tracking expenses. The cost is $249. CRI Offers Monthly Programs for Safety Professionals
The Center for Research and Innovation and the Northern MN Safety Council is proud to launch a new program of monthly presentations for those professionals who are responsible for the safety of their organizations. This month’s presenter, Myron Selzler from North Central Door Company, will facilitate a discussion on AWAIR. Participants are asked to bring the current policy of their organization for discussion. The discussion is scheduled for April 20, from 11:30am-1pm. A $20 registration fee will be charged to cover the price of materials and lunch. Advance registration is encouraged. Improve the success of your business through effective use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Learn to use Microsoft Word to create professional documents in less time with less stress. Microsoft Excel courses focus on creating spreadsheets for the purpose of creating usable budgets and sales projections. Learn More about Ergonomics and Preventing Fatal Accidents
Phil Jacobs, from the MN Department of Labor and Industry Workplace Safety Consultation, will present information on ergonomics and fatal accidents in the workplace on April 28, from 8am-12noon. The cost of the workshop is $59 and advance registration can be made by contacting the Center for Research and Innovation. Click here to register. Academy of Lifelong Learning Continues Spring Series
The Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) continues the series of weekly presentations each Tuesday throughout the month of April. The ALL is a learning in retirement network made possible with funding from the Minnesota Humanities Commission in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities and support from Bemidji State University and the BSU Foundation. Presenters in April include Will Weaver, Mike Muson, Mary Hrenchir and Tom Beech. The presentations for the ALL are free and open to the public. News From the Natural Resources Consortium
Native Plants / Landscaping Restoration Presentation
Join Mary Blickenderfer, Regional Extension Educator with the University of MN, as she will present at the CRI on Monday, April 18 from 3-4:30pm. The presentation is free and open to the public. The schedule of upcoming events is available on line.

 
Spring Workshop Scheduled
A full-day workshop entitled “Public and Tribal Land Ownership and Use” is scheduled to take place April 28 from 8:15am-4:30pm at Bemidji’s Northern Inn Conference Center. The workshop will bring together experts from federal, state, county and tribal organizations. The cost of the event is $75, which includes all materials, lunch and refreshments. Fall Workshop Scheduled
The NRC is proud to work with the Conservation Forestry Network to bring Dr. Jerry Franklin to MN. Franklin, one of the most prominent ecologists, has developed a core curriculum that will stress place-based and customized approaches to harvesting through a mix of new science, case study, discussions, and site visits. The two-day course is designed for public and for-profit and non-profit private organizations with an interest in managing forests in the Great Lakes region for multiple objectives including timber, wildlife and sustaining or restoring native diversity. Most entrepreneurs need money to bring their idea to fruition or start their small businesses.  Oftentimes we hear there are "grants" available for start up companies.  Use caution when seeking "free money".
