Register TODAY for  the Northern Minnesota Safety Conference

The April 5 Northern Minnesota Safety Conference has a few openings for additional participants if you have not yet registered.  Minnesota Safety Council, North Country Health Services, and Bemidji State University are hosting this first annual event at Concordia Language Villages Spanish Village.  The conference will feature several speakers and break out sessions from a variety of experts from around the state.  The keynote presenter will be Mr. Garry Kroft, Senior Safety Specialist at S & N Consulting, Ltd. In Maple Grove, MN.  Kroft will present, “So You're the Safety Director...Now What?”  and “Stuck In The Middle...Which Way To Go?”  Full details about the conference are available online. Informal Help for all of Your Business’s Human Resources Needs
The first networking session of the Regional Employer Support Network is scheduled April 6 from 9am to 11am at the Center for Research and Innovation.  Terri Pemberton, staffing specialist with White Earth Reservation Tribal Council, will share information on employee incentive programs utilizing recognition and reward.  This session is offered at no cost and is open to all who deal with human resources issues in the workplace: HR managers, HR staff, personnel directors, business owners or anyone else who deal with people in the workplace. Bring your ideas to network with others who face similar workplace challenges. More information is available online or by contacting the Center for Research and Innovation.

Continuing Education for Minnesota Real Estate Agents

Maintain your real estate license by attending this refresher course.  Offered on the Bemidji State University campus via interactive television, this course will cover agency, contracts, and fair housing.  Other topics to be covered are required paper work for the real estate agent, legal names, tenants, earnest money and escrow items. This program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Commerce.  The 5-hour class will be held April 11Click here for more information and registration form.

Attention all Budding Entrepreneurs
The SBDC is hosting the perfect class for you.  Business Basics is a jam packed presentation designed to give you the key information you need to pursue the dream of owning a business.  The class is April 11 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Small Business Development Center, 3801 Bemidji Avenue North.  Call 755-4255 to register for the class.  The fee is $25.00 per person.  

 

“Lake Sturgeon Restoration Efforts on the White Earth Reservation”
Presenting will be Randy Zortman, fisheries manager with the White Earth Natural Resources Department at the Fisheries Program’s South Ice Cracking Lake Rearing Facility. His presentation will give an overview of the history of and future plans for reintroduction of lake sturgeon on the White Earth Reservation and throughout the Red River Watershed. Join us at the Center for Research and Innovation on April 17, from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) Continues Through May 2
Offered at the Center for Research and Innovation each Tuesday from 10am to 11:30am, ALL presentations are free and open to the public.  Featured speakers and topics this month include Professor Jack Judkins discussing attention spans, Sara Breeze, Judy Dvorak and Kathy Paulsen reliving some Bemidji history, Dr. Carol Porterfield Milowski sharing a unique view of women of the west, and Dr. Tom Beech presenting both perspectives regarding the Canada and United States relationship.  The spring series concludes May 2 with Kathleen Preece and Colleen Oestreich presenting a unique view of goods from our woods.

Learn More About Marketing
This course will explain procedures and institutions involved in the distribution of goods and services, product development and pricing, marketing costs, consumer motivations and buying habits, and government regulations.  Class starts July 3.  Watch the CRI News for more details.

Protect Your Business
Examine conflicts and problems which are facing business persons and the increase of consciousness in the field of business ethics.  This course will concentrate on organizational, market, and governmental regulations of business ethics and their effects on business and its stakeholders.
