Occupational Health and Safety - Certificate - 14 credits

This certificate can be used as a prerequisite to the AAS program, or by itself to qualify for some introductory Occupational Health and Safety Jobs.

SAFE 1011 Intro to Safety Standards & Hazard Recognition:  Students will get an introduction to the standards and rules associated with safety and health.  Learners will gain an understanding of hazard recognition and various techniques relating to identifying hazards.

SAFE 1022 Intro to Industrial Hygiene:  This course addresses industrial hygiene practices and how they are related to industry standards, policies, procedures, and principles set by various accredited agencies.

SAFE 2033 Fire Protection, Egress, & Life Safety:  Hazard analysis and assessment of establishments relating to the prevention and control of undesired fires; an in depth study of flammables, combustibles, and their relation to fire prevention and egress for life safety.

SAFE 2047 Principles of Transportation Safety: This course encompasses the study of Safety and Health related regulations and standard associated with the railroad, highway, air, and marine transportation.  Students will get a comprehensive look at local, state, and federal regulations surrounding the transportation industry.

SAFE 1062 Safety Programs & Behavioral Safety:  Students learn to develop an understanding of the different types of safety programs requirements, training, and implementation.  Students will be exposed to AWAIR, RTK, and Standard Operating Procedures.
