Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. The term "Reiki" is used to describe a non-directive hands on healing technique that is used to restore balance and promote healing on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
Participating in a Level 1 Reiki class provides the information and activation (attunement) of Reiki energy by the Reiki Master. This is like turning on a switch: the energy flows through the prepared energy field of a Reiki practitioner, who acts as a conduit for the Reiki energy.
In Level 1, students learn a series of hand positions for use with seated or full (reclining) treatment. Emphasis is placed on the treatment of another person or on self-treatment.
